Propeller Strike

Any Jabiru engine that has been subject to a propeller strike using a GT propeller, no matter how small, must have a shock load inspection as per the Jabiru Engine Maintenance Manual JEM0002-1, section 8.26.
Prop strikes are usually covered under your insurance policy, but check with your insurance company.
Failure to comply with the shock load inspection would most likely void any future insurance claim and would be of great concern.
The photograph shows a crankshaft from a Jabiru engine, which received a prop strike and was re-propped without any inspection, 100 hours later the strike induced crack finally gave in and the aircraft and engine were severely damaged and NOT covered under the insurance!
